Harold R. Theroux (1937-2019) of Cumberland, Rhode Island and formerly of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away on July 27, 2019.

Harold "Red" is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Joan W. (Converse) Theroux, and their three children Michael R. Theroux of Lincoln, Rhode Island, John H. Theroux of Old Orchard, Maine, and Matthew J. Theroux of Cumberland, Rhode Island. He leaves behind six grandchildren: John, Joshua, Alexandra, Olivia, Danielle and Allison, along with many nieces and nephews.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Red was the son of the late Harold R. Theroux, Sr. and Stella (Misiewicz) Theroux. He was the brother to Elizabeth A. (Theroux) Army and Susan M. (Theroux) Lewis.

Red graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1954. During his time at Lasalle he played for the hockey and baseball teams, respectively. He then furthered his education by attending Johnson and Wales University, where he studied accounting and computer science.

Red proudly served his country as a member of the Rhode Island Air National Guard 102nd AC & W Squadron from 1955 to 1961 . He was a staff sergeant for Radar Control Operations and actively served during the Berlin Crisis in Celle, Germany. Upon returning from Germany, Red began a career in the laundry and dry cleaning business by working alongside his father in the family business at Woodlawn Laundry & Cleaners, on Glenwood Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Throughout his time at Woodlawn, he worked and operated its various locations throughout the state. In the late 1970s, Red entered the sales field, selling laundry and dry cleaning supplies throughout Southern New England for Warehouse Point Equipment Corporation, located in Warehouse Point, Connecticut. He later moved on to work for Norton Supply Company in Providence, Rhode Island. He and his wife Joan were also the proprietors of M&M Laundromat in Johnston, Rhode Island and The Fairway restaurant in Cumberland, Rhode Island, before concluding his career at TLC Cleaners in Medway, Massachusetts.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31st, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave in Lincoln, Rhode Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30am in Saint Ambrose Church, 191 School St., Albion, RI. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904.
